Did you know professional movers are subject to rate setting? What you pay a mover is actually a rate set by the state through its transportation regulation. Rates are set by the Utility Transportation Commission under the 15-C tariff. The tariff is broken down into three basic sections: #1, General Rules, #2 Intrastate Moves, and #3, Hourly Rated Moving.

If your move is fewer than 55 miles from point A to B, then this move is to be done by the hour. If the move is greater than 55 miles from point A to B, then this move is done by the weight of the shipment. Online estimates are available to you, but an in-home estimate is always your best bet.
